Graham and his Queen spent the day hanging out at their hotel in Cairo. The Queen worked on packing. On the next page they will be leaving to fly back to Albuquerque. Graham spent much of his time preparing for his Zoom interview with an Albuquerque charter school, 2:30 p.m. Albuquerque time, 10:30 p.m. Cairo time. The school used the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme and the Paideia method. He was learning a lot. He really liked the 10 attributes valued by IB World Schools, although he would add an 11th attribute and that would be something like, “Imagineers.”
The imagination is extremely important and it should be used like a muscle. Everyone should practice using their imagination. Einstein is often quoted as having said that Imagination is more important than knowledge. Graham found this to be true. Graham, as an educator understood how important knowledge is, but without knowledge, it limits one’s imagination, and imagination always comes first.
He liked the 12 Paideia Principles, especially part of one which says, “Schooling should prepare all Americans to…make a good living.” Graham would just change the word “make” to “create.” The difference may be subtle, but it is important.
Maybe these were the programs he was supposed to learn about. It had to be better than the Common Core State Standards. Something was missing with those.
Would Graham get this job? Would the Queen fit all the gifts into their luggage? Let’s Sea…
