October 10, 2024 West, Principal’s Diary
Graham had an interview at another elementary school. It went well, as alway, at least in his mind. He had gone to too many interviews for schools for principal or vice principal jobs. The interviews always “went well,” but a few days later the email would come about all the other qualified candidates. “I’m I too weird? Do I have a weird look on my face? Is the Universe trying to tell me something?”
He liked this school because it was small and they had an excellent vision. He liked working with elementary parents, teachers and students. He was also learning wisdom from his students, as John Denver mentioned in his song Rhymes and Reasons. “In their innocence and trusting, they will teach us to be free…”
Graham remembered his childhood dreams of peace in the world. He remembered his wonder of the world and he remembered how good that felt on a day to day basis. Now at almost 100 years old, he still carries his dreams of peace, his questions, and an excitement for living each day. He merely wanted to help all the children all around the world list their dreams, like Hamish did, or create a vision board or many vision boards, “My trip one day to Spain and all the places i would like to see and people I want to meet.” He would tell them about Dream Story and how the goal was to get at least 1 million dreamers involved in the ocean clean up. He would tell them about his trip to New Jersey to meet Paresh, one of the company leaders of SolGuruz who helped him to build the Dream Story app. He would tell them why it is a live dream, and then he would listen to their dreams.
Who are the children going to trust? We have seen major news channels with different versions of truth. We have seen politicians give different versions of truth. Trust should always begin at home. It should start at home but there will be a few cases where that doesn’t happen. Trust in the family is of major importance. The children must first develop a trusting relationship with their family as they slowly allow their child out into the world with more independence.
