Graham went outside to check on the baby Koi in the pond. There was no water coming from the waterfall feature. Graham disconnected the pump from the PVC pipe that went to the top of the waterfall. He turned the pump on and there was lots of water being pumped. He put a hose at both ends of the pipe and could tell there was a block somewhere. He decided to cut 18” off pipe from the outlet to the last 90 angle. As he moved away the dirt off the pipe, buried under the dirt was a valve and over time tree roots pushed enough and managed to close the valve. All he had to do was to open the valve and a very good flow would happen once again. He wondered if there were any valves in his life that almost imperceptibly closed over time. “Which would those be and how do I open them?”
At 7:30 p.m. he told the Dream Story to a small group of people. He did everything he didn’t want to do. He talked too much, he didn’t connect well with the members, he was too academic, and he spent too much time on the mechanics of Dream Story. He needed to slow down. He knew his storytelling didn’t work. He never liked talking a lot. It was enough for him to know that this wasn’t the time to be telling the story. He would rather be listening to what the world was dreaming about and what they were finding out about the great mystery. He forgot to tell about the live dream. He should have asked them, are you living your dreams? To him, he had learned we have the amazing ability to first dream, and then create.
Funds were almost out. In the past, this would have stressed him, along with being turned down 8 times. He was still waiting to hear from Cibola. If they didn’t call, what would he do next? He had always imagined starting with the dream in a school. He would love to see the transformation take place in the school where hope would come alive and there would be a new kind of energy. Maybe after having difficulty finding a job, he would better appreciate the next job he had. What if Cibola called him on the next page with a “You’re hired.” Would he accept or would he ride out the uncertainty until Dream Story Live hit the world?
He liked being a storyteller, day by day, writing about love, life, philosophy, risks, and potential rewards. To him, the greatest reward would be seeing people excited about their dreams and the Great Mystery that was always in front of them.
